Determined to curb the high rate of insecurity in the county, the Senate yesterday, urged the federal government to revive the public security communications system programme piloted in Lagos and Abuja through the installation of close circuit television, CCTV in public places.
It also called for the installation of metal detector scanners in strategic locations, noting that this would assist the security agencies to combat terrorism in the country.
These followed a motion, “Incidents of incessant bomb attacks in public places,” by Senator Rabiu M. Kwankwaso (APC Kano Central) on the floor of the Red Chamber in Abuja.

The Senate urged the state and local governments, as well their agencies to ensure that emergency exits are provided in all markets and public buildings, lamenting that Boko Haram has caused the largest global terrorist deaths.
Similarly, it directed the National Emergency Management Authority, NEMA and other government relevant agencies to begin “mass media sensitisation campaign on the need for general public to be more vigilant as well as the kind of measures to be taken in times of bomb attacks in public places.”

In his remarks, the senate president, Dr  Bukola Saraki, stressed the need to de-radicalise the mindset of the people on the issues of life and security.
