A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and national coordinator of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), Mr Garus Gololo, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to stand firm and ensure capable persons from the party emerges as Senate president and deputy Senate president.
Gololo who stated this Friday in Abuja, said the circumstances that surrounded the appointment of Senate president, the deputy and speaker in 2015 should not be allowed to repeat itself.
He said under former President Olusegun Obasanjo administration , it was the person he wanted that became the Senate president and deputy.
He appealed to the president to revisit the Grazing Reserve Law enacted by Governo Samuel Ortom in Benue state to enable the Fulani have freedom to do their businesses in the state.
“President should help us to visit the law made by Ortom that is causing problems in Benue; the law is against the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As Nigerians, we are supposed to move freely in any where to do our businesses, but Governor Ortom has chased us out from Benue because of the Anti Grazing Law.
“During the election, we have 68,560 Fulani that came out to cast their votes for Buhari despite the harassment and intimidation we faced. Buhari should help us so that the law should not stand in Benue,” Gololo said.
He also called on INEC to do the right things during the election, saying any figure brought before them should be verified very well before announcing any final result.
Meanwhile, Gololo stated that all Fulani in Benue congratulated President Buhari over his victory in the elections, saying Nigerians would enjoy the next level of the president amidst God’s guidance.
