Social Democratic Party (SDP) Abia State chapter governorship candidate, Mrs Blessing Nwagba, has vowed that the party would change the bad governance of the PDP-led administration in the state.
Honourable Nwagba, who made the vow yesterday in Umuahia during the flag off campaign rally/ hand over of flags to party’s candidates for 2019 election, assured the electorate that her administration, when voted in, would address all lapses of the present administration.
The two-time member of Abia House of Assembly, who represented Aba Central state constituency, noted that the preoccupation of the SDP remains to dethrone Governor Okezie IKpeazu of the PDP and institute a new government that would met the yearning of the people.
According to her, the PDP administration is remarkable for decayed in infrastructures, unemployment, unpaid salaries, gratuities, pensions, dilapidated networks of roads, and maladministration.
The candidate said these problems have caused Abians and residents untold hardship, despite being endowed with natural and mineral resources.
Further, the SDP has come to change bad governance, effect positive change, and provide paradigm shift that would put a stop to the suffering of the masses.
Also, she urged Abia electorate to spread the gospel of SDP as well obtain their permanent voter cards to enable take part in the forthcoming general election.
She promised to restored the lost glory of Abia by eradicating poverty, boosting agriculture, industry/job creation, as well as provision of quality health care delivery
In the same light, she said her government would improve education, build functional networks roads, and create an environment conducive for development, if elected governor to office.
She seized the opportunity to thank the party for giving women the equal opportunity to actively participate in politics.
Handing over the flag to state party candidates, the national organizing secretary, Hon Emeka Atuma represented by state publicity secretary of the party, Hon Iyke Osundu said the party has come to stay in Abia, adding that the SDP would capture power from the PDP government come, March 2019.
Meanwhile, the party state chairman Hon Chidi Nwosu said the PDP has been completely rejected by Abians due to perennial mis-governance caused by some political heavyweights, (God fatherism and Godson Syndrome).
Hon Nwosu added that SDP is the first political party with national outlook in Abia State that has produced a woman contesting governorship race in the state and called on Abians to support the party in order to correct bad governance in the emerging political dispensation.
