Scavenger bags 2 months for theft

A Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, has sentenced a 22-year-old man, Kabiru Musa, to two months in prison for attempted theft.
Musa, a resident of Karu Village, Abuja, pleaded guilty to the charge and begged for leniency.
Senior Magistrate Binta Dongoyaro, however, gave Musa an option to pay N10, 000 fines.

The Prosecutor, Cpl. Simon Emmanuel, had told the court that on October 13, the convict allegedly broke into the complainant’s apartment with the intent to steal his property
Emmanuel said that luck ran out of the accused as the complainant’s roommate, Rejoice Njoku, came into the apartment, saw broken windows and doors, and raised an alarm.

“Njoku’s alarm attracted neighbours who apprehended the convict and took him to the Karu Police Station,” he said.
Emmanuel told the court that the convict admit committing the crime, attributing it to “the devil’s work.”
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 95 of the Penal Code. (NAN
