The Niger chapter of the Association of Table Water Producers Wednesday hiked the price of sachet water from N250 to N300 per bag in Niger state as water scarcity bites harder in the state.

The association stated this in a joint statement issued in Minna by its state chairman, Alhaji Yahaya Ismaila Atsu and the Minna zonal chairman, Comrade Yahaya Aliyu.

The statement said the decision to increase the price of table water in the state was taken at an emergency meeting of the association on Tuesday in Minna.

“The association has noted with serious concern the escalating cost of production materials including the scarcity of water sources. We are therefore constrained to increase the price of the satchet water from N250 a bag to N300 a bag. This is also to unify the price of satchet water in the state,” they said.

The association  added that the last price increase was done in 2023, adding that the prevailing price increase takes effect from April 1st, 2025.

“Therefore, the association wants to use this opportunity to appeal to the public to be mindful of the quality of water they consume in order to avoid contaminated water produced by quacks. The quality of water for consumption is the watch word of the association,” the statement said.

The association expressed dismay over the challenge of skyrocketed cost of energy, nylon, water and other essential materials for the production of high quality water while urging for the understanding of the residents of the state.
