As part of efforts to bridge the gap in access to healthcare services especially in the rural communities, the Rotary Club of Lugbe Action Group for Family Health and Aid FHA, in commemoration of the 2023 Rotary Family Health Day, has organised free medical outreach to people in Lugbe community.

President Rotary Club of Lugbe FHA, Rtn Adetundun Adeyemi, noted during the exercise that access to healthcare services is part of fundamental human rights and rotary club has taken the initiative to render free and quality health services to less privileged people across the country.

Adeyemi said the exercise amongst others, includes screening, testing and counselling for preventable diseases such as HIV/AIDS, TB, hepatitis B & C, malaria, and cancer, adding that children would also be given immunisation against polio and measles.

He said there would be distribution of consumable items, like condoms to hygiene packs to malaria meds, all towards ensuring a healthy society.

Also speaking, the project chairperson, Rtn Dorothy Ndidi Ossai said all health facilities had been mobilised to ensure a successful service delivery to the people.

Ossai informed that the Rotary Family Health Day was an opportunity to reach out to people, especially on cases that had to do with maternal and child health, which included polio vaccination.

“Today we are presenting mosquito nets, malaria drugs, birthing kits to pregnant women, we are also running several tests like sugar level, malaria parasite, checking of blood pressure and anyone that we know that need treatment we treat them, and also deworm those that needs to deworming,” he said.

The Dakachi of Sauka Karhuta Lugbe, Chief Joself Buba, represented by his personal assistant, Solomon Kwartong said the exercise was apt and commendable, considering how challenging the time is.

“There are many who cannot afford medical attention, but this exercise has provided them with such opportunity,” said  Kwartong.
