Road crashes kill 36 persons in Delta

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) yesterday said that about 36 persons lost their lives in various auto crashes in the fourth quarter of 2015 in Delta state.
The state sector commander of FRSC, Mr. Rindom Kumven said , a total of 40 road accidents occurred during the period under review with 121 persons injured.
The commander stated this while giving statistics of vehicular accidents in the state in Asaba.
He said that out of the 40 crashes, 15 were fatal, 17 were serious and nine were minor.
Kumven said there was 49 per cent reduction in road mishap, 43 per cent decrease in the number of persons killed and 38 per cent decrease in injured victims when compared with the last quarter of 2014.
FRSC boss also explained the decrease of 42per cent in road accidents, 29per cent in the number of people injured and 22 per cent in the number of casualties.

He described Agbor-Issele-Uku and Ughelli axis of the state as black spots for vehicular accidents which, were usually caused by speed violation, tyre burst and dangerous overtaking.
The commander also attributed the reduction in accident cases in the state to the level of compliance to traffic regulations by motorists.
Meanwhile, two persons were reported dead while three others sustained injuries in an accident which occurred near Asaba Airport along Benin-Asaba expressway late Tuesday.
Kumven said a Dangote truck was making a U-turn on the expressway before the Toyota bus with registration number JJJ 526 SK, Lagos conveying passengers ran into it.
