Incumbent member of the House of Representatives from Imo state, Kingsley Uju, has demanded cancellation of the election in his constituency, saying the process was full of irregularities.
The lawmaker representing Ohaji-Egbema, Oguta and Oru West federal constituency, also accused the state government under as being behind attacks that were threatening to his life.
Addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday, the lawmaker said elections did not hold in some wards within his constituency, and so no results should be accepted from the areas.
He also cautioned that the nation’s electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be wary of persons they recruit as Ad hoc staff members during its elections.
Reports were that the lawmakers suffered attacks in his home town, where he luckily escaped alive.
According to him, there had been a a commander of a special team of the Nigeria Police, one a Inspector Chika Akwabata who was being used by the state government to intimidate his supporters
“”I appeal to the Inspector General of Police to help stop the intimidation of my supporters. I also want the police to investigate who led the operations that a against me on Friday”, he said.
