Relocating LGA’s headquarters back to Tafawa Balewa unrealistic says group

Tafawa Balewa Development Association in Bauchi state has described the agitation by the Zaar Development Association for the relocation of Tafawa Balewa local government headquarters back to Tafawa Balewa town as unrealistic.

Recall that the local government headquarters was moved to Bununu town by the ex governor of Bauchi State Isah Yuguda as a result of the endemic communal clashes in the town between the sayawa and fulani ethnic groups.

However, a sayawa socio-cultural group known as Zaar Development Association recently called for the restoration of the local government headquarters back to Tafawa Balewa town and the establishment of Sayawa Chiefdom.

But another group known as Tafawa Balewa Development Association in a statement signed by its chairman and secretary Shu’aibu Sale Umar and Yunusa Ado and issued to journalists in Bauchi said, the association wondered why the ZDA made the agitation despite the fact that the group was aware that the State House of Assembly had passed two bills on the matter.

According to the statement, the State House of Assembly passed the resolution as a result of series of ethno religious crises which started mostly from Tafawa Balewa town.

They claimed that since the measure was taken, majority of the people of the local government especially residents of the town welcomed it and that the crises stopped.
