A combined team of security operatives, including vigilantes, has eliminated a notorious Lakurawa kingpin, Maigemu, in Kebbi State.
The Director of Security, Cabinet Office, Alhaji AbdURRahman Usman Zagga, disclosed this in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
“Maigemu was neutralised on Thursday at Kuncin Baba in Arewa Local government area, which is a remote area with difficult terrain, after a fierce gun battle.
“This success comes just a week after Governor Nasir Idris visited Bagiza and Rausar Kade communities in the local government area to condole with the communities on the killing of six peoples by suspected Lakurawa cattle rustlers.
“On the occasion, the governor ordered immediate security reinforcements and strategy to confront criminal elements in the area.
“Today, this proactive approach has yielded results with the elimination of the bandits’ kingpin, Maigemu; his corpse is available as evidence.”
