Reach out to the needy, monarch charges wealthy Nigerians  

 A traditional ruler in Lagos State Oba Semiudeen Kasali of Igbogbo has charged wealthy  Nigerians to always reach out to the needy in the society, so as to give them succour and sense of belonging, adding that such acts  further promote peace in the country. Oba Kasali gave this advice at the presentation of food items to sweepers in the service of Lagos Waste Management Agency as Christmas gifts by a Non Governmental Organisation PEPC at the event held at Igbogbo Stadium. The monarch commended the NGO for its initiative to reach out to the needy and vulnerable in the society said such gesture should be emulated by those in affluent so as to give succour to the needy because, the economy situation in the country makes it difficult for some family to feed themselves, adding that, the gesture should not be limited to only yuletide period alone, but should be a regular thing. Speaking on why he decided to reach out to the sweepers, the Director General of the NGO Lukman Akinsanya said he is always impressed about the role the cleaners play in ensuring that the entire state is always clean, despite their commitment to their duties. Akinsanya noted that  he wants to keep encouraging the sweepers so as to give them the sense of belonging and the love that they desire to make them understand that their  contribution to the development of Lagos state is not taken for granted. He however, added that he started the initiative three years ago,with gift to 250 sweepers and last year it was increased to 400 sweepers in Igbogbo, but this year the entire old Ikorodu division was taken care of with 700  sweepers benefiting, while he intended to take care of all sweepers in the entire state next year.
