Ramadan: Sokoto Senator distributes 800m cash, textile materials to communities

A serving senator in Sokoto, Senator Ibrahim Lamido , representing Sokoto East Senatorial District has procured rice, cash and textiles materials estimated to the tune of N 800 million to support people from his constituency to observe Ramadan fasting.

Speaking while distributing the items, Senator Lamido said 16 trucks load of rice worth N 580 million have been acquired and would be distributed to the people in the 8 local government areas.

Senator Lamido said no fewer than 10, 000 people which among who were widows, orphans politicians, refugees at IDP camps and most vulnerable people will benefit from the gesture

Similarly, senator Lamido said he procured textiles materials which included Atampha and broacades to cater for 22,000 people from the areas irrespective of political inclination

He said that the gesture was aimed at to support the people during this month of Ramadan

Speaking on security challenge which bedevil his zone, senator Lamido said that he’s working closely with security operatives to secure the area

Lamido said that his area has been the worst hit, lamented that many people have abandoned their towns, villages and farmlands for dear lives

He said that he’s always disturbed by the ugly situation which he described unfortunate, charged the people to support government and security operatives because according to him new strategies are being applied to contain the challenge.
