No fewer than three persons, weekend, lost their lives during a tragic incident at the ancient town of Ipe-Akoko in Akoko East local government area of Ondo state.

Sources from the ancient town said the three persons died mysteriously during an age-grade festival called Ibogbe.

An eyewitness account said two persons died as a result of concoction (Agbo) they drank, including the maker of the mixture and a middle aged man, who came for the festival from Abuja.

The source added that as the community was thrown into mourning over the mysterious death of the victims, another man, a retired Anglican priest, committed suicide in his house in the   same town on Sunday.

The source said the late cleric’s reason for committing suicide was unknown.

While the entire community has been thrown into mourning mood, the two cases were said to have been reported to the police.

The cleric that committed suicide was said to still be hanging as police is awaiting traditional rites to be performed before touching the corpse.

All efforts at getting reactions from the police authority proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
