President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja on Wednesday evening following a condolence visit to Benue State.
He was received at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by senior government officials and presidential aides.
During his visit to Benue President
Tinubu reassured the people of the state of his commitment to restoring peace.
He also directed security chiefs to intensify efforts in tracking down and prosecuting those responsible for the recent killings in the state.
He equally charged the Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, to immediately form an inclusive peace committee to restore calm and foster lasting peace in the state.
He emphasised that the committee must include all stakeholders—former governors, traditional rulers such as the Tor Tiv and Och’Idoma, religious leaders, and non-indigenes.
