Presidency bars journalists who attended Abba Kyari’s burial from Aso Villa


The Presidency Sunday directed State House correspondents and staff of its Media Office who attended the funeral prayer and burial of the late Chief of Staff to the President Mr Abba Kyari to stay away from the Presidential Villa.
Kyari died in the late hours of Friday following underlining ailments aggravated coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.
The funeral prayer took place at the Defence House residence of the deceased while the burial was done at the Gudu cemetery in Abuja.
A statement issued by the Deputy Director of Information at the State House, Mr Attah Esa, said journalists that participated in the burial rites should work from home for the next 14 days.


The statement also urged them to observe the recommended measures to prevent the transmission of the deadly coronavirus, including maintaining physical distancing and good personal hygiene.


The statement reads: “As a precautionary measure, all State House Correspondents and Media Office Staff who covered/attended the funeral prayer/burial ceremony of the late Chief of Staff, at Defence House and Gudu Cemetery Abuja, respectively, are strongly advised to work from home for the next 14 days. 
“Please be careful to observe the recommended measures to prevent the coronavirus transmission, including maintaining physical distancing and good personal hygiene going forward.”
