Premier League: Aston Villa face Arsenal as Manchester City chase more points

Arsenal will look to end a four game winless run when they travel to face Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Having led the table for a good part of the season, a poor run of results has seen them drop to second on goal difference, with Manchester City leapfrogging them into top spot after a 3-1 win at the Emirates in midweek. More points dropped will spell catastrophe for their title ambitions, so they will now be looking for a positive response against a Villa side who lie 10th on the table. Villa have lost back to back games against Leicester and Man City, and it doesn’t get any easier for Unai Emery against his former side. They have won two of their last five matches against Arsenal, with the Gunners winning the rest, and they will be looking to make their home advantage count.

Manchester City will aim to build on their victory against Arsenal when they travel to face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. The Citizens were 3-1 winners over the Gunners in midweek, moving to the top of the log on goal difference, and they will now look to reestablish their title winning credentials against a Forest side who are unbeaten in their last seven matches, winning four and drawing three. City won the first encounter 6-0 and are expected to secure another win here.

Liverpool will travel to the Sports Direct arena to take on Newcastle United. The Reds were 2-0 winners over Everton in the Merseyside Derby last time out, relieving some of the pressure on manager Jurgen Klopp. They are unbeaten in their last five away games against Newcastle and have never gone six games unbeaten at the stadium in their history. The Toon Army are fourth on the table and have been very impressive under Eddie Howe. Their form against the Reds makes for grim reading though, as they are winless in the last 12 matches against them, with the last win coming all the way back in 2015. They come into this on the back of a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, and victory here will be a fine way to bounce back.

Chelsea will entertain bottom of the table Southampton at Stamford Bridge. The Blues lie 10th on the table and have drawn their last three games, their longest such run since the 2006/07 season. They come into this one on the back of a 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, but will be confident of victory against a Souhampton side who have kept just one clean sheet in their last 28 matches.

Brentford will look to build on an impressive point against Arsenal when they host Crystal Palace at the Gtech Community Stadium.

With just a point separating each other, 17th placed Leeds United will travel to face 18th placed Everton at Goodison Park knowing that defeat will see them slip into the drop zone.

Wolves will be eyeing a home win as well as progression up the table when they face Bournemouth at the Molineux Stadium.

Locked on points but boasting two games in hand, sixth placed Brighton will take on seventh placed Fulham at the Amex Stadium.
