Portal for registration of unemployed underway – NDE

In a bid to ascertain the number of unemployed persons in Nigeria, the federal government is to launch an on-line portal for their registration with a view to create sustainable job for them.
The acting Director General, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Mr. Kunle Obanya, who disclosed this during unveiling of ‘School To Work’ programme of the directorate, said the portal would be formally launch once final modalities are concluded.

According to him, the directorate’s School To Work initiative which targeted at training of Secondary School Students, on how to be self-reliant would commence next month.
According to Obayan, the School-To-Work job scheme, will among other things engage the students during the long vacation with a view to ensuring that they stay away from anti-social conducts due to idleness.
He said a total of 150 students would be trained per state in six states of the federation covering the six geo-political zones of the country.
The states are Anambra, Ondo, Cross River, Kogi, Katsina as well as Bauchi, even as about N15 million is require for the project.
The NDE boss further disclosed that the students will be given a stipend for the two-month period so as to motivate them during the training.

He also said NDE has completed arrangements for the commencement of other new Job creation initiatives under the Rural Empowerment Programme (REP).
He said the Agriculture park of the NDE in Sabuwa, Katsina state which would soon be commissioned has the capacity to generate hundreds of direct jobs in agro businesses like poultry, cattle, sheep & goats ration, as well as fish feed and pet food.
Obanya explained that the park would also have fish hatcheries producing 60,000 fingerlings as well as fish grow-out units in earthen ponds with output of 40,000 catfishes at 1Kg minimum market weight.
