The Federal University Lokoja witnessed a different atmosphere of conviviality, merriment and comradeship from the management and academic staff as the Vice Chancellor of the institution Professor Olayemi Akinwumi led senior staff members to pose for pictures with students during the matriculation ceremony for the 2021 new batch of intakes.

The surprised academic staff joined the joyful students in their merry making after the matriculation ceremony.

Unlike previous matriculation ceremonies which were characterised by official speech making and admonitions from the school management, this year’s event took the entire institution by surprise as the new vice chancellor changed the tone of the activity when he came down from the podium and offered to take pictures with the new students who simply jumped at the rare opportunity.

Addressing the students earlier, the vice chancellor harped on the need for students, academic and non-academic staff to live above board by shunning all forms of vices such as cultism, examination mal-practices and sex for grades.

The vice chancellor promised to uplift the university beyond its present level and called for support, and collaboration from members of the academic community to enable the institution grow at a rapid pace.
