The Emerging Political Leaders Fellowship (EPLF) Bootcamp, in conjunction with former governor Liyel Imoke’s The Bridge Leadership Foundation (TBLF), has churned out 25 Fellows trained on intensive leadership skills especially on pressing civic and governance issues.

The course, which lasted for six months, culminated in a 2-day event in Abuja, with series of training sessions and capstone project presentations by the fellows.

Speaking at the event, Cross River state former governor, Senator Imoke, who is the founder of TBLF, underscored the fellowship’s commitment to developing ethical and visionary leaders.

Imoke revealed that the 2024 cohort was selected through a highly competitive process, with over 700 applications received for just 25 slots.

“It’s a very competitive fellowship,” he explained.
“We make it as competitive as possible and ensure that those selected have a vested interest in public service. Despite drawing participants from every region—north, south, east, and west—the selection is based purely on merit and quality, not geographical zoning.”

The former governor also highlighted the significance of the Bootcamp, describing it as a platform where fellows could merge theoretical knowledge with practical experience.

“This event was a culmination of the fellows’ efforts, from their virtual sessions to their civic engagement activities. It reinforces our vision of nurturing a new generation of leaders who will shape Nigeria’s political future with integrity and purpose,” he said.

The event, it was gathered, also celebrated the Fellows’ commitment to driving positive change in Nigeria’s political landscape while showcasing the impact of the programme.

Prominent political figures graced the event to mentor the fellows, including former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and former Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Chukwuemeka Ihedioha

While Amaechi emphasised resilience as a critical trait for effective leadership, Ihedioha called for integrity as the foundation of impactful governance.
