The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced significant breakthroughs in its fight against violent crimes, cultism, gunrunning, and kidnapping, with the rescue of two abducted victims and the arrest of eight suspects across coordinated operations in Delta, Katsina, Adamawa, and Edo states.

This was contained in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
He stated that the successes underscore the Inspector-General of Police’s (IGP) commitment to intelligence-led policing.

He said: “In Edo state, police operatives, working with local vigilante groups, successfully rescued Godday Irieude and Wisdom Emeka, on June 26, 2025. The duo had been abducted from their farm in the Ewatto area around 1:00 AM. Trailing the abductors to their hideout, a fierce gun duel ensued when the kidnappers sighted the police. The superior firepower of the operatives forced the criminals to flee with gunshot injuries, leading to the victims’ unhurt rescue.

“In Delta State, police operations led to multiple arrests and significant recoveries. Acting on credible intelligence, a residence in Mosogar occupied by suspected cultists, Koko Josh,29 and Asomugha Clinton, 27, was raided. A search yielded a fabricated Beretta pistol with two rounds of live ammunition, two locally made guns, eight live cartridges, multiple mobile phones, a laptop, and fetish items. Follow-up investigations resulted in the arrest of two more suspects, Anthony Kelvin, 26 and Gift Amotsuka, 25, all confirmed members of the Aiye Confraternity.

“In a separate operation in Okpanam, Delta State, police arrested, Ekene Chroma, 36 and Okafor Jonathan,18, in possession of two English-made single-barrel guns and 110 live cartridges. Preliminary investigations indicate their involvement in illegal arms dealing, acting as suppliers and couriers for wanted criminals.”
