Police rescue 12 kidnap victims, recover cash, arms 

Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) Sunday said it rescued over 12 kidnap victims and neutralised bandits in sting operations across the country.

They also stated that operatives recovered several cash to the sum of N10.3 million with arms and ammunition in the operations.

This was contained in a statement  by the Force Public Relations Officer ( FPRO), an Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, following a series of successful operations by the  NPF  and demonstrated its resolve in ensuring public safety and combating all forms of criminal activities.

He further stated that these operations, exemplified in several states across the country led to the arrest of 3 suspected terrorists, recovery of significant amounts of cash, arms and ammunition, and rescued of kidnapped victims”

 He said in Imo state, operatives of the force sustained their operational momentum against criminal elements threatening public safety.

“On April 17, 2025, at approximately 1:02 am, police operatives in synergy with local vigilante groups acted on credible intelligence and stormed a suspected IPOB/ESN hideout on Cameron Street, Ubahu, in Okigwe LGA. On sighting the operatives, the suspected terrorists opened fire, resulting in a gun battle during which three suspects identified as Onyekaba Ikenna Innocent, 210-yrs, Ugwu Ikenna,  31-yrs, and Ofor Kasarachi , 37-yrs were arrested.

“ Recovered from the scene were one AK-47 rifle, two pump-action guns, eighteen live cartridges, mobile devices, laptops, and ₦10.3 million in cash suspected to be proceeds of kidnapping for ransom.”
