Police probe attack, murder of Brigadier General Uwem Udokwere

The FCT Police Command has commenced investigation into the attack and killing of Brigadier General Uwem Harold Udokwere (retd.) at Sunshine Homes Estate, Abuja, by suspected armed robbers.

Blueprint reports that the suspected armed robbers, who reportedly asked for money, jewellery and other valables, were said to have attacked, the General’s house around 3 a m and subsequently shot him in the course of the robbery.

Udokwere was said to have been taken to the National Hospital Abuja where he was confirmed dead.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Josephine Adeh, in a press statement on Sunday in Abuja, said: “In response to the tragic and unprecedented attack at Sunshine Homes Estate by armed robbers, resulting in the untimely demise of Brigadier General Uwem Harold Udokwere (retd.) on June 22, 2024, at approximately 03:00 a.m, the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, has promptly ordered a thorough and discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding this regrettable event.

“Expressing profound condolences to the bereaved family, CP Igweh assures the family and the public of swift justice, with every effort in conduit to ensure the perpetrators of the atrocious act are apprehended and brought to justice.”

She further stated that the police boos, “reaffirms the unflinching commitment of the command to amplify the security landscape of the nation’s capital, by  continually adapting strategies to effectively combat evolving criminal activities.”

The spokesperson assured that updates on the matter would be provided in due course.
