Police nab, parade suspects, jail break mastermind in Ekiti 

Some suspects allegedly involved in the serial killings of some persons within Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital and other crimes committed across the state have been arrested and paraded by the Ekti state Police command.

There was tension in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital last week after three persons were killed in broad daylight within forty-eight hours.

The victims included a POS operator, a rice seller at Bisi Market and an Okada Rider Association official.

The first was an executive of commercial motorcyclists who was killed Tuesday while a popular POS operator known as Alfa was also killed on Thursday at the Adebayo area, adjacent Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti.

Few hours later, the killers also brought killed a trader at Oja Bisi, causing uproar and panic.

The suspects include notorious cult gangs and some other notorious criminals who came to the state from plateau state.

Briefing newsmen Wednesday at the Ekiti State Police Command in Ado-Ekiti, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abutu Sunday, said the command also arrested a jail breaker and notorious armed robber.

The Police spokesman said the suspect alongside four other suspects had earlier in 2012 been arrested for the offence of conspiracy and armed robbery.

“They were charged to court and remanded in the correctional center, Ado-Ekiti. While in the correctional centre, the suspect and one Jimoh Sadiku colluded with their gang members outside the correctional centre and broke the correctional centre gate which resulted in the escape of 220 inmates.

The Police said investigation revealed that the suspect thereafter fled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he was involved in a murder case. He was arrested, imprisoned for six years and later repatriated to Nigeria.
