Police nab girl who stabbed boyfriend to death in Ondo

The Ondo state Police command weekend said it recorded a breakthrough across the state as the men arrested a 24 year-old lady, Augustina Mowarin, who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death in Okitipupa local government area of the state.

Augustina was alleged to have stabbed her partner, one Michael Ikuedowoni, to death due to a misunderstanding fuelled by infidelity allegation.

Confirming the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lawal Adebowale, told newsmen in Akure weekend that the incident occurred over two weeks ago when it was reported to the police.

He said the suspect was relocated to Irele Police Division from Okitipupa to prevent mob action and it was later transferred to the State CID in Akure for further investigation and prosecution.

He said: “Murder – Girlfriend Stabs Partner to Death in Okitipupa On 27th July 2025, a  delayed-report murder involving one Michael Ikuedowoni (25), who was stabbed by his girlfriend, Augustina Mowarin (24), came to light after his death at Omosanya Private Hospital. The incident reportedly occurred two weeks prior.

The suspect was relocated to Irele Division to prevent mob action and it is being transferred to SCID Akure for further investigation.

Also, an Okada rider, Nwike Sabbat, 25, was shot dead in an apparent motorcycle robbery in Yaba, Ondo.

The suspect crashed while fleeing and was arrested with the victim’s motorcycle and live Beretta ammunition.

The police said one Michael Olasukanmi, 37, was apprehended by operatives of Yaba Division for his alleged involvement in multiple violent motorcycle thefts carried out at gunpoint. Items recovered from the suspect include a black Police beret cap, a pair of black gloves, and vandalised electrical cables.

The police boss informed of another Samuel Akingbehinje, 23, who was apprehended by community youth in Okitipupa after robbing a victim of an iPhone 12 Pro Max using an axe. He admitted to passing the stolen phone to one “Toga” of Mayowa Quarters, Akure.
