Newly promoted Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 11, Mr Ambrose Aisabor, has said that the Nigerian Police Force “cannot effectively fight crimes except it synergise with other sister security agencies in the country.”
He advised security agencies to learn how to manage conflicts amongst security operatives without necessarily allowing it to affect their roles in preventing and fighting crimes.
Aisabor, who was the immediate past Commissioner of Police (CP), in Kwara state, before his elevation to AIG, made the revelation at a get together organised in his honour by the command in Ilorin at the weekend.
He said: “When I came into the state, I said a tree does not make a forest. One officer cannot do the job alone. The level of collaboration among security agencies in this state is very laudable and I am sure you saw it today. When my promotion came, the Brigade Commander and the Air Force Commander were the first to come to my house to congratulate me.
“All security agencies are here today. So, I want you officers to ensure that this bond of friendship, this bond of synergy, this bond of collaboration, this bond of cooperation is maintained. The police as an agency cannot do it alone. We need to synergise with other security agencies in Kwara state, it is very important. If you all work together you would see that you can achieve a lot. If there are areas of conflict, you don’t allow the conflicts to escalate. You can meet the officers and get the things ironed out without people knowing and the things get out of hands.”
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Alhaji Amusa Bello, said “crime wave was at very low ebb under Aisabor’s command in the state.”
Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, who was represented by the Mogaji Nda, Alhaji Saliu Woru Mohammed, described the former CP’s tenure as “very peaceful and successful.”
