Platinum CEO honoured for ‘turning hopes to homes’

Managing director of Platinum Mortgage Bank, Sir Engr. Emmanuel Mbaka, has been named by IMPACT Nigeria as the ‘Outstanding Professional Personality for Service and Delivery’. The organisers said the award was for the ability to “turn the hopes of low income earners to homes.”

While charging the mortgage banker to “multiply efforts” geared at providing more homes to low income earners, coordinator of IMPACT Nigeria, Paul Play Dairo stated that a lot is still expected from the Nigerian mortgage industry.
Mr. Dairo who described Mbaka as a versatile industrialist who has provided over ten thousand successful mortgages to Nigerians said the award is a gesture bestowed on profiles in courage stating that it takes courage to build such an industry.

“Engineer Mbaka has excelled in the industrial sector especially in his provision of affordable homes for civil servants and low income earners in the FCT and across the country despite stark and harsh economic realities,” Dairo said.
Executive director of the bank who received the award on behalf of Engr Mbaka said the recipient was grateful for the recognition adding that “Engineer Mbaka does not consider awards as a reward for his humanitarian consideration in business; rather he sees them as a challenge to accomplish greater tasks as well as increasing his penchant for providing homes to low income earners.”

While he disclosed that Platinum Mortgage Bank has met the N5 billion recapitalization benchmark of the CBN, he stated that it will have a multiplier effect in its service delivery.
“Housing provision is our business. Our new status as a mortgage bank recapitalized means that we have additional funds to finance home affordability in Nigeria,” he said adding that the bank even has additional capital to create more impetus for additional mortgages.
