The lawmaker representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, Hon. Daniel Asama Ago, has expressed deep sorrow over the recent attacks in Miango, Bassa local government area, which led to multiple fatalities and extensive destruction of property.
In a heartfelt press statement, Hon. Ago lamented the unending wave of violence that continued to plague the Irigwe land, recalling that his first motion of urgent public importance on the floor of the House of Representatives—exactly one year ago— centred on similar attacks.
“It is disheartening that despite consistent advocacy and engagement, our people continue to suffer these senseless killings and destruction,” he stated.
The federal lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to bringing national and international attention to what he described as a “systematic genocide unfolding on our plateau.”
He added that he has been in close communication with security agencies and relevant government stakeholders in a bid to restore peace and protect the lives and property of his constituents.
Calling for immediate relief for affected residents, Hon. Ago appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other humanitarian bodies to urgently intervene and provide support for the victims of the attacks.
“To the families who have lost loved ones, I extend my heartfelt condolences. May you find solace in the midst of this darkness,” he said.
He reiterated his unwavering dedication to the people of Bassa/Jos North and his hope for a future free from violence and bloodshed.
“Together, we can work towards a brighter future for our constituents,” he affirmed.
