The Plateau state House of Assembly, presided over by Speaker Naanlong Daniel, Thursday at plenary, opposed a potential relocation of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) headquarters from Jos.
In a unanimous resolution, the lawmakers said relocating the ITF headquarters could severely impact the state’s economy and heritage.
The House resolution followed a matter of urgent public importance raised by Hon. Theodore Bala Maiyaki, representing Quaan-Pan South Constituency and chairman of the House Committee on Education, Science and Technology.
He said the proposed move threatens the socio-economic stability, institutional legacy, and pride of Plateau state.
He said relocating the ITF headquarters would strip the state of a key federal presence, undermine economic activities linked to the agency, cause job losses, and erode the historical identity Jos holds as host to the institution for decades.
He added that such a move could disrupt ongoing training programmes and partnerships that have benefited both Plateau and the nation.
