‘Planning board, platform for capacity building for implementation’

Secretary to the National Planning Commission (NPC), Bassey Akpanyung, has stated that the regular meetings of the Joint Planning Board (JPB) organised by the NPC provides a platform for the building of capacities of public servants to sustain implementation of strategic plans.
Speaking at the ongoing JPB meeting in Awka, he said the meeting was expected to pave way for effective realisation of the objectives of the current administration’s ‘change agenda’.

He said: “The Forum will also allow for building of capacities of public servants for sustained implementation of strategic plans at the national and sub-national levels.”
He further hinted that far reaching recommendations of the JPB meeting would be reached with respect to institutionalisation of strategic plans, policy formulation and performance system at the sub-national level, and that this would no doubt facilitate the realisation of the current administration’ s ‘change’ agenda.
According to him also, this year’s meetings are structured to accommodate two side events that will feature the sub-themes of the meeting.

He listed the sub themes as “Private Sector Investment: A key Driver of Economic Development” and “Achieving Positive Change for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development: The Role of Development Partners.”
According to the Head of Information, NPC, Salisu Haiba, among the eight presentations on major topical issues to be made at the technical sessions are:

“The National Successor Medium Term Strategic Plan to Aid Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development; Forging effective links between the Annual Budget and Medium Terms Plans for enhanced service delivery and Imperative of Good Governance in a Attaining Sustainable Development.
In a paper titled ” Imperative of Good Governance in Attaining Sustainable Development,” presented by the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Nkem Okeke, Anambra state government has achieved alot in the areas of security, agriculture and commerce to ensure good governance in the state and also make the state an investment destination in the country.
