Planned protest: Fityanul Islam calls for fervent prayers

The Fityanul Islam of Nigeria (FIN) Thursday called on Nigerians to shelve any planned protest, describing it as an ill-wind against the overall good of the country.

The Islamic group said Muslims in the country should rather use the planned period for intensive fasting and prayers to seek Allah’s intervention.

This was contained in a signed statement by the president, Fityanul Islam of Nigeria, Sheikh Muhammad Arabia AbulFathi and the director general, Media and Publicity, Ustaz Sani Ibn Salihu.

The bgroup said: “Following recent plans to hold nationwide protests against bad governance in Nigeria from 1st-10th August 2024, Fityanul Islam of Nigeria, here distances itself from such mass action as it is an ill- wind that will not blow any good to the nation.”

The Islamic group added that such mass actions in Nigeria in the past were  easily infiltrated and manipulated by some unpatriotic elements to unleash mayhem that could lead to  total breakdown of law and order.

“We have not yet as a nation fully recovered from the traumatic effects of the infamous End-SARS protests. It is therefore unthinkable for us to support another of such mass protests. Fityanul Islam of Nigeria therefore calls on all Muslims in Nigeria not to join such charade,” it said.

The group said Muslims should rather use the period for intensive fasting and prayers, seeking for Allah’s intervention in all Mosques throughout the federation.

“Let us recite the Glorious Qur’an a million times within the ten days and engage in countless Istighfar (Seeking Allah’s forgiveness). Prayer has been the time-tested solution to our individual and societal challenges from pre colonial times till now,” the group said.
