The executive secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has said the Commission would continue to protect the safety of Nigerian pilgrims while in the Holy Land “in line with the Commission’s policy of guaranteeing the safety of our pilgrims.”

He said this recently in Abuja while playing host to the members of the board of the Lagos state Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board who paid him a courtesy visit at the NCPC corporate headquarters in Abuja.

Bishop Adegbite said “Israel is safe for pilgrims,” adding that “our journey must terminate in Israel, God’s own country.”

This was contained in a press statement issued by the Commission’s head of media and public relations, Celestine Toruka.

It indicated that the NCPC boss stressed that under his leadership, pilgrimage would be more spiritual and developmental.

He promised that the Commission would not cheat anyone and nobody should think of cheating the Commission “because transparency remains the hallmark of my administration.”

He assured members of the Lagos board that he would work in synergy with it to advance the cause of Christian pilgrimage in Lagos state and the country.

Earlier, the chairman of the Lagos board, Bishop Akinpelu Johnson, represented by the vice-chairman, Bishop Rufus Oguntuase, said they were at the NCPC to congratulate their own for his well-deserved appointment.

“We are here as board members from Lagos state to appreciate and to welcome you. I appeal to you to ensure that the pilgrimage cost for the Easter pilgrimage is released to enable us to plan along with the intending pilgrims,” he said.
