PICTURES: Protesters desert streets… banks, shops, others shutdown in Ebonyi

Financial institutions, major business areas were on Thursday shutdown for fear of attack by hoodlums.

Market places like timber shade, building materials were deserted though business was being done skeletally at the building material shopping areas.

Monitoring the situation in Ebonyi, Blueprint correspondent observed that major shops where different good are sold such as lot 1 of the International market, and others were locked but areas where food items are sold were open.

Some traders at Kpirikpir market in Abakaliki allayed fear of being attacked by hoodlums if they opened their shops.

A shop owner name withheld said, “nobody is protesting but we are afraid that hoodlums may seize the opportunity to invade our shop as it is always the matter in cases like this,” he said.

However, mass transit companies were not at work as roads were deserted as at 10am till the time of this report on Thursday.

So far, no protester was seen and only few fuel stations were opened.
