Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has declared that the only condition under which he would withdraw from the 2027 presidential race is if he is found guilty of corruption.
Obi made this statement during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he addressed allegations questioning the integrity of the ADC coalition he is associated with.
Reacting to a question on whether he is part of a so-called “criminal gang,” Obi said, “I am not a criminal. My public and private life are open for anyone to check. I governed Anambra State for eight years and never took a kobo that didn’t belong to me.”
He further emphasized his clean record in both public office and private business, stating: “Even in my years in corporate and private business, my records are clean and available. If anyone can point to just one place where I stole money — either as a governor or as a private citizen — I will step down from contesting the 2027 presidential election.”
