A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Sokoto state, Alhaji Yusuf Dingyadi has commended the federal government recent actions to end armed banditry in Northern Nigeria.
Alhaji Dimgyadi who is the Senior Special Assistant to the national chairman of the PDP on Media and Communications while speaking in Garkuwa FM station program “Karin Kumallo” monitored by this reporter, said the recent federal government directives to the heads of security to relocate to Sokoto was a clear demonstration to the government determination to end banditry in Sokoto and Northwest geopolitical zone
“The recent relocation of the state minister of defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, Chief of Defence Staff, and other military chiefs to Sokoto is a clear demonstration of the federal government determination to addressee insecurity challenges in Sokoto and Northwest,”
The media guru emphasized the importance of setting aside political differences to support the nation’s troops, stating, “Security matters should not be politicized,”
He added that they must recognize and commend the bravery and dedication of nation’s military personnel who despite despite the some challenges they were able to subdue the insurgents in the north east
Alhaji Dingyadi has urged politicians to support the military, stressing that security should be above politics.
He also suggested that the Military authorities should engage with Ulama (Islamic scholars) and social media influencers who have criticized their performance, allowing them to gain a firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by troops on the ground.
Dingyadi noted that many citizens who underestimate the military’s efforts are unaware of the threats and challenges encountered during the war against bandits.
He called on patriotic Nigerians to support security agencies with useful intelligence to help eliminate the threat.
PDP as a responsible political party in the country will not become a burden to the federal government toward achieving important milestone of the fight against banditry and other insecurity matters in the country.
This rare show of support from an opposition party member has been seen as a positive step towards unity in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
