Pay attention to insecurity, Shi’ite issues, Gumi urges Buhari

A popular Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmed Gumi, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to pay attention to issues of insecurity in the country, particularly in the north-east where the Boko Haram still hold sway and, the pending issue of Shi’ite movement leader, Sheik El-Zakzaky to avoid further anxiety.

According to him, the APC administration should also stop politicizing the Boko Haram menace and focus on addressing insecurity frontally.

A statement signed on Monday in Abuja by the Director Media and Publicity Y.Y Sani Presidential Campaign Organization, Pam Ibrahim, said the cleric was speaking when he received Dr. Gumi at his Kaduna residence.

According to the statement, Gumi appealed to Politicians to exhibit a sense of pragmatism and imbibe the spirit of patience, sportsmanship and resilience in their hope for a better nation.

The cleric was of the opinion that lack of education is one of the major causes of insecurity and under-development in Nigeria, calling on Nigerians to hold politicians accountable for their campaign promises.

Earlier, the the Preaidential candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) Engr. Yabagi Sani expressed satisfaction for the role that the cleric have played over the years in inculcating morale virtues and credible leadership in Nigeria.

He said his intention to run for the office of the President of Nigeria is to correct the issues that have kept the country away from developing economically and socially.

Sani lamented a situation where other countries who some years back were behind Nigeria in terms of development, today are ahead of our nation technologically. He solicited for the support of the cleric as the ADP, he said, is poised to take over the Presidential villa on 29th May, 2019.
