With the age-long issue of doping still affecting sports, the Para-Swimming Federation of Nigeria has decided to take a front-row in holding a seminar to educate sports personnel on doping.

The seminar will witness a global attendance as it enjoys the backing of the United States of America Anti-doping Agency.

During a briefing, Bose Kaffo who sits as the vice President of the Para-Swimming Federation of Nigeria, Chairperson Technical, emphasized on the need for individuals who manage athletes to be well-guided on the latest dictates on anti-doping.

The event which holds  online with the theme “Anti-doping education for athletes support personnel” according to her, was designed to align sports management personnel and other interested individuals and groups with the latest techniques and methods in anti-doping.

Many have fallen victims ignorantly taking drinks and foods which contained banned substances as listed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

Kaffo, who is the convener and is  a former five-time table tennis star, said the event will be strategic in the fight against doping in sports.

She is the first African to hold a  Master of Arts in Sports Ethics and Integrity under the Olympian International Olympic Committee(IOC) Scholarship.

“The short presentation is on Anti-doping awareness for Athlete personnel. It’s focus is on education. This is mainly another part of athletes’ management responsibility. I aimed to educate the management staff of Para-Swimming  as well as those who want to benefit from this seminar.”

She added that would-be participants are also encouraged to join the seminar via the zoom link by 2pm today.

It would be recalled that Nigeria’s 4×100m gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham is under investigation following the discovery of two ban substances, ostarine and Ligandrol in the blood sample A of Grace Nkwocha who has been suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit.
