Oyo crisis: INEC writes PDP over court order

The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state has assumed fresh dimension as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has written to the party’s national chairman Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, over a litigation on its recently held governorship primary in the state.
Blueprint gathered that INEC in the letter with Ref. No. INEC/LEG/FHC/14/COMM/134/VOL.1/55 signed by the Commission’s Secretary, Augusta C. Ogakwu, asked PDP to guide it on the order of the Abuja court.
According to the letter, INEC confirmed the receipt of the court order restraining it from accepting the party’s candidates from Oyo state.
In the letter titled Re: Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/928/2014-Adelowo Aremu Ademola vs PDP & ors, INEC stated : “This is to confirm receipt of service of the order of the Federal High Court, Abuja in respect of the above suit in which you were represented by counsel.
“The Court restrained the commission from accepting, recognising or treating as nominated, candidates of the PDP, any candidate, who did not emerge in accordance with the order of the court. You may wish to be guided accordingly please”, the letter added.
It would be recalled that PDP conducted its primary elections in the state, using only statutory delegates when the controversies trailing the ad-hoc ward delegates’ congress held on two different occasions could not be resolved.
