Overland Airlines set to commence flight operations from Minna airport

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger state will on Wednesday witness the commencement of commercial flights by Overland Airways from  the  Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna as the first passenger on board to Abuja

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Overland Airways, Captain Edward Boyo, stated this in Minna on Monday, adding that necessary measures and arrangements have been made for the launch of the commercial flight.

He explained that the commencement of the flight operations was based on partnership with the state government, noting that “the achievement comes through the visionary leadership of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, the strategic efforts of the New Niger Development Project (NNDP) and New Niger Aviation (NNA), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) created to manage and enhance the aviation ecosystem in Niger State.”.

Captain Boyo further explained that the partnership between Overland Airways and the Niger state government represents a key milestone in actualising Governor Bago’s infrastructural development blueprint aimed at positioning the state as a regional hub for investment, trade, and tourism.

Blueprint learnt that the commencement of flight operations from the President Bola Tinubu International Airport Minna has elicited excitements from the people, including businessmen and civil servants.

It was learnt that because of the high premium attached to this event, the state governor will lead the group of VIPs and book the first ticket for the flight schedule.

Speaking with Blueprint, the Chief Operating Officer of New Niger Aviation (NNA), Alhaji Liman Katamba Kutigi, explained that the launch is a bridge to more opportunities.

He said, “By partnering with Overland Airways, we are setting a new standard in regional air connectivity, with safety, reliability, and economic impact at the center. This is the beginning of a broader agenda to transform Niger State into a key player in Nigeria’s aviation and logistics corridor.”
