Over 800 artisans, women benefit from constituency outreach

No fewer than 800 artisans and market women have benefited from the one week constituency outreach programme organised by Hon. Yusuf Ahmed Tijani representing Okene/Ogori-Magongo federal constituency in Kogi state.

In addition, over 1, 000 people also benefited from the free medical treatment which formed part of the week-long programme.
Presenting the items to the beneficiaries over the weekend in Okene, Tijani said in the course of assessing his constituency, he discovered that majority of the people were still grappling with scarcity of potable water, as well as unemployment in addition to dwindling family incomes.
The lawmaker added that the education in the constituency had taken a nosedive that many schools, particularly those at the suburbs, had no decent classrooms, stressing that majority of the secondary schools in the area suffered varying degrees of dilapidation.
According to him, “in responding to these pressing challenges, we set out to institute a palliative measure with our eyes firmly fixed on finding last solutions.”

He said:“In 2011 legislative year, we constructed over 30 boreholes across the 11 wards to alleviate the problem of water scarcity.

To support the transformation agenda of the state government in education sector, we upgraded the structure at the Queen Apostolic College in Okene by facilitating the construction and furnishing of two blocks of four classrooms.”

He added that similar a gesture was extended to Local government secondary school Ohiana and standard primary school in OnyukokoIn his good will message, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland Dr Ado-brahim, called on other political office holders in central senatorial district of the state to emulate Tijani’s gesture and urged the people to be their brothers’ keeper and shun vices that could impede the peace being enjoyed in the area.
