Our target is to contribute to development of Nigeria through AI – Ibrosoft Foundation

The Ibrosoft International Development Foundation (IIDF) has said it will contribute to the development of the country through training of Nigerians on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The Director General of IIDF, Ibrahim Abdullahi,  stated this Friday in Abuja, during the closing ceremony of a two-day training on Specialized Artificial Intelligence (AI) Workshop for Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) staff and teachers and principals drawn from schools across the six area councils of the FCT.

He said the workshop would improve the skills of members of staff of the DSTI.

He said the training would help them carry out some tasks that required human intelligence, adding that the technology would reduce work place difficulties.

He added that the training would enable the trainees familiarise with, and make use of some powerful applications of artificial intelligence.

He said: “The training is very important as it will help Nigeria to develop as a country. I the last two days, we have taught the participants many important aspects of AI. We have taught them how to use ChatGPT, Google Gemini and PI. It will help the teachers and administrators in their work.

“AI is actually the very important in whatever we do in our daily lives. At the end of the day, we hope the participants will implement the lessons in their daily lives. We also want to work with organizations to see that our trainees with laptops and smartphones so that they can be ale to practicalize what they have learnt.”

Also speaking, the Programme Director of Ibrosoft International Development Foundation, Mr Aliyu Usman, said that AI is the future of the world and that Nigeria is actually lagging behind with regards to AI.

In an interview, Head of Admin, DSTI, Mrs Jimoh Alimat, said though AI has a lot of advantages, she has fears that it will lead to computers taking over the jobs of human beings, thereby encouraging unemployment.

Also, Mr Isa Usman Okuru, Director Principal, Government Science Secondary School, Pyakasa, Maitama, said the training will help him to become a better administrator as he has learnt how to use AI to generate ideas and words for memos.
