Osun: Accused collapses in court as clerk reads charges

 

A 21-year-old man, Segun Balogun, Tuesday collapsed in court as the court clerk read the second count of his charges.

The accused person was alleged to have committed the offence on 4th of October, 2019 at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo.

He was alleged to have stolen Infinix hot 6, valued N37,500, Itel P33 handset, valued N23,500, Itel phone valued N3,000, Automated Teller Machine card of Unity Bank, Bluetooth valued N2,500, and cash sum of N7,000.

He was arraigned on a 3- count charges bothering on stealing.

The court clerk read his first count charge and asked if he was guilty. The accused pleaded not guilty.

Before the clerk could finish reading the second charge, the accused fainted in the dock.

The prosecutor, Adeoye Kayode, told the court that the accused person was medically fit before he was brought to court.

The Magistrate, Mrs Risikat Olayemi, directed that the accused person be taken to the hospital for proper medication and adjourned the case to October 14, 2019.
