The Head, National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT), Port Harcourt Centre, Mr. Precious Ogulu, has said that the institute has a comprehensive curriculum delivered by expert instructors designed to equip the trainees with demand skills.
He stated this on the occasion of the second induction ceremony of OML 58 Obagi Oilfield HCDT Tech -up capacity development on Friday in Port Harcourt.
He said the trainees will be engaged in hand- on training, real world projects, and invaluable mentorship to ensure that you are truly job ready upon completion.
He urged the trainees to grabbed the opportunity they are being given with both hand to better their lots and be committed, diligent, and cultivate a boundless curiosity.
While charging trainees to be focused on their studies, he warned that any trainees found taken stipend precedence over learning may be unfortunately lead to replacement.
“Our focus is on practical skills, current industry trends, and essential soft skills, all vital for making you competitive in today’s job market.
“We are committed to expanding this reach and impact even further. We therefore appeal to our board members to continue their invaluable sponsorship, enabling us to empower even more individuals and accelerate digital transformation and economic growth,” he said.
On his part, the keynote speaker, Prof. Nathaniel Ojekudo, who is the ICT director, lgnitius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) Port Harcourt, spoke the theme ” Leveraging ICT for innovative education”: Trend and future directions.
He praised NIIT for putting up the training programme at the time when information and communication Technology ( ICT) was not merely a tool or a luxury but a life changing force transforming every aspect of human life, especially education.
Prof Ojekudo, who was represented by the deputy director ICT department (IAUE), charged the trainees to leverage on lCT for innovative education by exploring emerging trends while anticipating the directions where the collective journey may take.
He pointed out that education is no longer confined to classrooms, blackboard, but rather exists in cloud servers, smartphones, Al – powers apps, and immersive virtual worlds.
He added that the shift powered by ICT holds the key to unlocking the enormous potential of youth around the world.
