Ologbo wants govt to prioritise reforms, allocate resources for inmates

A prominent figure in Delta state, Chief Joseph Ologbo, has called on the government to prioritize reforms and allocate sufficient resources to provide inmates with the basic necessities and a respectful environment.

Ologbo in a press statement while recounting his newfound understanding of the dire situation faced by inmates, pledged to work towards improving the conditions within correctional facilities.

On the 23rd of January 2023, Chief Joseph Ologbo, was arrested, paraded, and remanded on charges of illegal possession of firearms and involvement in a cult group that organized intimidation in the state.

 However, in a recent turn of events, Justice Rita Ngozi Ossai of the High Court of Delta State in Sapele delivered a final judgment in Charge No. S/19C/2023 between State vs Joseph Ologbo, dismissing the case.

 The judgment not only exonerated him from the charges but also shed light on the need for due diligence by the media and improvements in Nigeria’s correctional facilities.

Following the announcement of the judgment, Chief Ologbo expressed his gratitude to the Almighty Father, the court for the swift delivery of justiceand his lawyer John Smart Esq. who worked tirelessly tosee that justice is served at last.

 He acknowledged the emotional and psychological distress he had endured during the media trials and urged the media to exercise due diligence before publishing stories that could tarnish the reputation of hardworking Nigerians.

 Chief. Ologbo’s case highlighted the significance of responsible journalism. Media trials can have drastic consequences on the lives of individuals who are later found innocent.

He urged media organizations to conduct thorough investigations and practice responsible reporting to safeguard the reputation and rights of individuals.
