Delta state governor and vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 general elections, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has described the late rights activist, Ariyo Dare-Atoye  as one Nigerian who fought for humanity and the oppressed.

The governor spoke Saturday when he paid a condolence visit to widow of the rights activist in Abuja, Mrs Abiola Dare-Atoye, to commiserate with them  on the passing of the husband.

Governor Okowa said: “The nation is forever in your husband’s debt for his strength and advocacy. He lived a short life; but he lived a life full of purpose.“

The governor later prayed with the wife and family, and asked God to comfort, provide and protect them in their hours of need.

Writing in the condolence register, the PDP presidential running mate said: “Ariyo Dare fought for humanity. He fought for the oppressed, for justice and a better society for us all. We will sorely miss him. May his soul Rest In Peace. Adieu Ariyo. 29/10/2022”

Among dignitaries who had visited the bereaved family is a former Ekiti state governor, Asiwaju Segun Oni.
