The re-election prospect of Hon David Agada Ogewu, representing Oju/Obi federal constituency of Benue state got a boost, Sunday, with hundreds of his constituents in Abuja endorsing him for a return to the House of Representatives in 2027.
Hon Ogewu was given the strong backing at a town hall meeting held at the auditorium of the Assemblies of God Church (AGC), Gbazango-Kubwa, with the Igede sons and daughters of the federal constituency pledging to ensure that the lawmaker sustains the tempo of his current representative, legislative and oversight engineering through a return to the green chamber in 2027.
Speaking on behalf of the surging crowd and others who could not make it to the meeting, chairman of Omi Ny’igede, Abuja chapter, Comrade Jerry Edube, described Hon Ogewu as “a true ambassador of the Igede nation, for his legislative visibility and boldness at the House of Representatives.”
Comrade Edube commended the lawmaker for championing some of the ongoing projects in Oju/Obi federal constituency but frowned at the level of marginalistion and security challenges facing the people in the state.
While backing the current move by the people of the constituency to join their kit and kin in Cross River through the creation of Ogoja state, Comrade Edube urged Hon Ogewu to give his all to actualise the dream.
Similarly, Chief Ogbu Obagwu Emmanuel, Jonathan Ahulo among others gave glowing commendations on the performance of Hon Ogewu since he resumed duties at the national Assembly in 2023, and urged him not to relent in providing service to his constituents.
They condemned the killing of two young Igede sons recently on the Oju-Awajir road and called for a halt to the massacre of the people. They tasked the lawmaker to collaborate with the relevant stakeholders to fix the Otukpo-Oju road which has remained a nightmare to the people.
