A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and coordinating Chairman of the States Youth Leaders’ Forum of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Prince Sani Ogu Salisu, has called on the party’s leadership to return the vacant position of National Chairman to the North Central zone.

Ogu, a former Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Kogi state, specifically advocated for the position to be given to Nasarawa State, where it was previously zoned and micro-zoned before the last National Convention.

In a statement he personally signed Saturday, emphasized the importance of adhering to the principle of zoning within the party by returning the National Chairman position to the North Central zone, saying the APC would be upholding a crucial aspect of its internal democracy and ensuring equitable representation across different regions of the country.

This approach, he argued, would foster unity and strengthen the party’s chances of securing landslide victories in future elections.

Prince Ogu, however, thrown his support behind Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, who he described as a prominent figure from Nasarawa State.

“Senator Al-Makura, known for his leadership skills and political acumen, would be an ideal candidate for the position of National Chairman.”

According to Prince Ogu, Al-Makura’s appointment would not only be a nod to the zoning principle but also a strategic move to ensure party cohesion and electoral success in 2027.

” The call to consider Senator Al-Makura is rooted in the belief that this appointment would promote unity within the party.

” By giving the North Central Zone the opportunity to lead, the APC would be reaffirming its commitment to inclusivity and regional representation, which are critical for maintaining party harmony and achieving electoral victories.”
