Ofu constituents passes confidence vote on lawmaker, gives nod for 3rd term

The People of Ofu constituency in Kogi state have passed a vote of confidence and  as well  endorsed the House of Assembly member representing them in State House of Assembly, Hon. Ahmodu Shehu Seidu for another term in 2027. 

The people in  their unanimous decision during the commissioning of lock-up shops at Ogbonicha,  Aloma and empowerment programme organized by Hon. Seidu,  the deputy majority leader of Kogi State House of Assembly, lauded the lawmaker’s developmental strides and pledged support for his third term bid.

Speaking at the ceremony, the lawmaker, said the essence of the programme was to give back to the people who entrusted him with their mandate as well as boost local economies to help his constituents become self-sufficient.

Hon. Seidu expressed appreciation to his constituents for their support during his reelection, noting that the empowerment program constitutes part of his account of stewardship.

He listed some of the numerous projects he has facilitated for the area, to include the construction of a block of five lockup shops in Ogbonicha and Aloma markets, the reconstruction of Ugwolawo Central Mosque, provision of two 500 KVA transformers for Ofoke and Ogbabo communities among other initiatives.

While noting that the projects would not have been feasible without the support of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to the lawmakers, Hon. Seidu urged his constituents to rally round the present administration to succeed.

In his remark at  the occasion, Kogi State Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, hailed the lawmaker for his purposeful representation.

Comrade Joel who said the initiative shows a significant delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people,  noted that the lawmaker has displayed true sincerity and integrity in representation.

According to him, the lawmaker has complemented the efforts of the governor, who is dedicated to bringing joy to the lives of the people and transforming the state. 

Chairman of Ofu Local Government Area, Hon. Mohammed Lawal Musa, described the initiative as first of its kind and expressed appreciation to the state government for their support to the lawmakers.

The Ejeh Ofu and Chairman Ofu Traditional Council, Chief Akwu Obaje, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for changing the narrative in the area, noting that the event is indeed the first of its kind.

In their goodwill messages, the Chief Whip of Kogi State House of Assembly and Member Representing Adavi State Constituency, Hon. Asema Baba Haruna; the APC Chairman of Ofu Local Government, Hon. Yahaya Shagari and Ofu Cordinator of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comr. Saddam Akpodu commended the lawmaker for the laudable initiative and urged people of the area to replicate the gesture in 2027 election.

Highlight of the program was a motion for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for a second term, moved by member representing Adavi State Constituency, Hon. Asema Baba Haruna, and seconded by Ofu Lawmaker, Hon. Ahmodu Shehu Seidu, which received overwhelming support and acceptance from the constituents.
