Official: WAEC reveals when 2025 WASSCE will be released

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has strongly refuted a widely circulated press statement on social media that claimed the cancellation of all papers from the recently concluded West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2025.

According to a statement issued by Moyosola Adesina, acting Head of WAEC’s Public Affairs Department, the council confirmed that the alleged cancellation notice, dated Saturday, July 19, 2025, which cited widespread malpractice and exam material leaks, did not originate from WAEC.

The council unequivocally stated that the examination has not been canceled. WAEC believes this “spurious Press Statement” is being propagated by “mischief-makers” aiming to discredit the organization and create “confusion and panic” among candidates.

Contrary to these false reports, WAEC affirmed that the marking of examination scripts has just been completed, and candidates can expect their results to be released on or before Thursday, August 4, 2025.

WAEC reminded the public and all stakeholders that official information is only disseminated through its verified social media handles and accredited media platforms.

“All legitimate press releases are issued and signed by the Public Affairs Department on behalf of the Head of National Office,” It said.

The council urged all stakeholders and the general public to disregard the misleading publication.
