Edo state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has called on Nigerians to stop advocating for disintegration, noting that every ethnic group was relevant to the country.
He advocated that the country should unite to become great by playing to the strengths of each of its ethnic groups.
The governor made the call at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Nigeria Army 4th Brigade Garrison, Benin City, on Sunday where he fellowshipped with the soldiers.
Obaseki further admonished people involved in inciting speeches to stop the campaign for disintegration, adding that those (hate speeches) could be detrimental to the future of the country.
Similarly, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has said that it was disheartening that some Nigerians chose to engage in acts capable of threatening the lives and property of their compatriots.
The PFN National President, Rev. Felix Omobude, staed this in a statement he issued through his media aide, Deacon Ralph Okhiria, in Benin City.
Omobude noted that while it was the constitutional right of every citizen to live in any area of their choice within the nation’s territory, ”those beating the drums of war should be reminded that war was an ill-wind that blows no one any good.”
According to him, PFN believes in a nation where every Nigerian is free to live in and to engage in any legitimate business, practise his or her faith and own property in any part of the country without let or hindrance.
