The Elemure of Emure-Ile in Owo local government area of Ondo state, Prince Bankole Adeyefa, has been charged to ensure the maintenance of peace and unity in his kingdom.
A press statement signed by Chief Kasali Obanoyen, Thursday, congratulated Prince Adeyefa for ascending the throne of his forbearers, urging him to maintain uprightness and integrity which are the hallmarks of the revered throne.
.
Obanoyen, who doubles as the Aboba Oluda of Ijebu-Owo, said:
“I was pleased to hear his first public statement as a new Oba, wherein he preached peace and inclusiveness – a powerful message that will surely lead to development, progress, and prosperity devoid of tension and the old acrimonious carrots dangled after such a selection occurs.
“Kabiyesi’s overwhelming acceptance is a sound indicator of what is in the transformative pipeline of the kingdom and community with a king with a legacy to template and improve with strides.
“Kabiyesi, your predecessor was a maverick in education and vast in world politics as he once told me this many years ago. Hear Alayeluwa, then when he disrobed what Winston Churchill once said:
“The price of greatness is responsibility, and the throne carries a heavy burden of duty and accountability”. No doubt our new Alayeluwa keys into the quote above.
“In a rapidly changing world, the future belongs to those who are prepared to shape it. Our new Oba possesses all the qualities necessary to help us shape our world and our climate in particular.”
Chief Obanoyen was a former chairman of Sunshine Football Club and board member of the Nigeria Professional Football League, and now resides in America.
